Javier MONTILLA

A native of Venezuela, Javier Montilla has been involved with music from an early age. He began to play flute in the world-renowned Venezuelan music project "El Sistema", gaining experience in their youth symphony orchestras. Later, he was a member of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and pursued a bachelor of music degree in flute performance at the IUDEM, in Caracas. Javier continued his flute studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he obtained his master’s and doctorate degrees in flute performance.  He also developed a career as a performer of Venezuela's traditional and Latin American music, performing and recording with established ensembles. In Seattle Javier plays with The Agermos CMP, Mochima, and Sabroson. Recently, he founded Montilla Brothers, a music publishing house.
